Grid filled, names identified. Not sure I can be bothered with final step: is it worth the faff?

I do not like this one little bit. It took me longer to sort out the dedicatees than it did to solve the b****y xword and then even longer to sort out the stupid instruction. Why not follow that out under the grid (as normal) instead of the inanity of carrying it out. Or am I missing something? I truly hope so, but think not.

My goodness, is it so difficult to make someone else's day a little bit brighter? Imagine the reaction of Mr Green (who could be a fifth "dedicatee") when he receives this week's submissions. It makes teasing out the second message worthwhile, in my opinion.

Surely this weeks submissions will be a little early and will not refer to Mr Green? At least he should have most of the day off though!!

I'd sooner spend hours, if not days, teasing out the answers, as that should be the challenge.

Agree with buddy - think it’s a nice gesture for someone who no doubt puts in a lot of hours for us and, gitto, if you look closely enough you’ll spot that it does perhaps make a reference to Mr Green

Agree that it’s a nice thing to do for someone who’s been keeping statistics for nearly forty years, I believe.

Not sure if it’s a special year - but have a happy day anyway.

I had the wrong final letter for the first clue entry. Sorted now, but the dedicatees are causing me trouble

All done, but cannot understand the wordplay for 32d. (definition and misprint understood).

I agree that this crossword seems to have been posted a couple of weeks early. I wonder why?
