There were at least a couple of superb, subtle, aspects to this one. The fact that the grid fill has at least one ambiguity that's resolved by the ordering of the extra letters, for example. I kind of need to go back and work out what the full logical path was, now, but it seemed to slowly and then suddenly yield. Quite remarkable.

I only started solving Listeners recently. 4766 Weaver by Saber was my first submission and I'm proud to say that I've sent a submission for every puzzle since then (with some assistance from this forum a handful of times).

But this puzzle by Cagey is the one that convinced me to make an account here and join in on the fun! I managed to understand the preamble quickly enough and filled the grid on my first copy (with only one slight error that needed correcting). I finished the final step and found the parse for every clue without forum help this time. Couldn't have asked for a more satisfying endgame. Bravo!

Looks like I'm the odd one out! I've cold solved everything apart from i (You and I not quite enough.....) and f (Unclued).
No-one has asked about i and given what it starts with it should be obvious but, nope! I assume the def is either 'clearly or 'Scottish singer's (bird?).
Haven't started on the grid yet but the extra letters in alphabetical order of the corresponding entries is puzzling if the entries are all made up of C,G,A and T.

f is as it says - unclued - so dont worry about it. when you fill the grid it will reveal itself (although you should know its first letter already as the answers are in alphabetical order).

i the defn is clearly, you and i is 2 letters, then scottish singer is 4

each grid entry is 12 letters, so while made up only of a, c, g, t its still possible to arrange alphabetically

Thanks Andyp. I will plough on.

I wondered if anyone had done this by cold solving less than 75% of the clues before starting on the grid fill and then solving clues with the aid of entered answers. There appears to be a couple of 'ways in if you have solved certain clues but otherwise it looks impenetrable.
