Hi all, I left the last few til this morning hoping for inspiration but I still can't find my way in. Tiny hints for 16d or 24a would be amazing. Or 21a, is it a specific text? Thanks!

Left the last few until this morning hoping for inspiration but I'm still stuck. Would appreciate hints on how 26d, 21a or 24a parse. Is 21 a particular text? Thanks. I've enjoyed this but it's tough!

And immediately got 24a! Typical.

21 is a Latin phrase describing a certain sort of religious depiction, so art rather than text. I think there are hints for 16 earlier in the thread…

Thanks Jono. As I suspected I just didn't know it. My lack of classical knowledge often let me down. Think I'm sorted now.

21 is probably more familiar in artworks rather than texts.

Sorry meant 16d. That jumped out once i had another crosser, all finished now thanks.

Don't forget Nietzsche re. 21, though I don't know whether he's still in fashion to any degree.

Started again this morning , before cricket started and finished with help from you guys. Not the most enjoyable of prize crosswords but my favourite and cod 4a. Now back to test , a tough day ahead for England!

I had my usual conflab with my friend in Sheffield this morning and between us we sorted out my queries. Neither of us could explain the extra s in 4ac, but I assume it is making the image files plural. Neither of us could explain19ac.

I got 23d as soon as I posted yesterday.
