Thanks Jack! I only had 9 of the misprints but your last post was perfect for me to realise the tenth and enable me to get the subject and the concepts.

I’m still missing one of the clashes of the two which give the repeated letter in the subject. Could anyone provide a hint please?

Also, FWIW, did anyone notice another of the subject’s concepts in the finished grid beyond the three required?

Pootle, the clashes are symmetrical and the 2 I think you are referring to are on the far left and right of the grid.

Steadily illing the grid (something of a novelty) blissfully unaware of the theme. But, judging by the speed at which others have finished, I'm hoping that it will reveal itself without too much head-scratching.

Vinhoverde, I'm progressing at a similar pace. Right hand side is holding me up, this week. A nudge for 21a or 36d would be welcome. Suspect that my dearth of clashes and sps is linked to some issues around parsing. Such as 8d, which has got me tearing my hair out! :)

Blissfully ignorant of what it's all about at present. Hopefully that will become clearer.

Vedova, 8d the last word is what you are after in the grid. 21a if Jobs wasn't the first word it would still be capitalised and 36d is a regional term (Stirling) similar to a Geordie term for holiday or idling/messing about. (The clue needs a tweak).

Vedova, your reaction to 8d is very appropriate!

21a: wordplay is first 4 words - answer is singular

Ah, thanks, Granama1 and Vinhoverde. The top's all fallen into place now. Still need to wrestle with the bottom corner a bit, but I can see a tiny speck of light at the end of the tunnel now!

Also stuck with 41d and figuring out the two 'other' clashes. Will continue to ponder.
