I agree with previous posters that there are a couple of pretty poor clues here.
Can someone help me out with 11d and 12a? I have the answers from their definitions and crossers but the parsing escapes me.

Hi coffindodger. I parsed 11d as third word of clue for first word of the solution. Taking A(nswer) from a synonym for the fourth word of clue gives the second word of the solution.
That’s how I parsed it anyway.

I think the first word in 12a is 1 letter from the first two words in the clue, followed by a 4 letter word for paper. And the second word in the answer is a 5 letter word meaning having an argument, around a 1 letter abbreviation for liberal

I can't parse 11d either, even with davel's hint below

Thanks Chrise... You mean that with the H it is something you might plant to create a border?

11d Another word for on is the first word. Another word for foundation from you remove a is the second word and the whole thing means a purposeful meal though I've never found them to be so.

I'm not too picky about cluing, found this week's a step up from last week's (which seemed weak and a regression). Thanks to Everyman.
FOI 1d, LOI 7.
Co-COD 22, 19d and 11. Also liked 1a, 7, 16, 20 and 12.
