yes, but "up and down" would be better in a down clue.

Anyway, despite my grumbles about a couple of clues, I did enjoy this. Not difficult, but took me a while to get going. FOI 9a, LOI 1d - that took me far too long, was reduced to going through the alphabet for the second letter. COD 4d, cos it’s not immediately clear (trying to avoid spoiling).
Best wishes all.

Personally I could see nothing incorrect with 13d.
Monet's paintings were all I******ions" . In his first exhibition, he asked for his painting to be called such due to his hazy eyesight.
(Sunrise) The paintings were thereafter called "ist" and the movment "ism" .
Pavlova clue would have been better shown as back and forth , but I suppose when she was on points, she would be going up and down (joke)

Ok jazzgirl, help me out please. I knew about Monet’s paintings, but I cannot see what Elvis has to do with it. Am I being slow?

Can anyone put me out if my misery and explain 2d to me? I have a word that works as border but AFAIK it's no rhyming slang and even if I put an "h" in front of it it still makes no sense in terms of the wordplay. I'm probably missing something extremely obvious!

Thanks jazzgirl, and ianwil too. I actually got the solution quickly, but didn’t write it in until I had some crossers to confirm.
loubyloo - glad you finished.
All the best!
