several dodgy clues today. in particular, 10a - how does "up and down" work in an across clue?

ChrisE - I agree. 18d seems to have abbreviations that are unclued, and 6a - is “disaster” doing double duty?

Ian will, 6a parses as four single letters and the two single letters in 18d are clued by words three and four

Thanks Jono - but what I was trying to say was that in 6a the single letters are jumbled, so is “disaster” meant to be an anagram indicator and a definition?
And in 18d the two single letters have no indicator to say that they are abbreviations.

chrise: I had the same thought about 10a.

Ianwil: I think 6a parses correctly because of “In”

13d is odd, but maybe I just don’t get it! 11d took me a long time to parse, took a while to solve too.

It’s a palindrome.

Thank you davel - that makes sense now.

davel - I think that 13d is weak - the painting should have “ist” on the end, IMHO.

13d was on my "dodgy" list. However the "ist" term derives from a Monet painting that doesn't have it!
