I've bought a set of pencils and an eraser to tackle yesterday's prize eventually (although I am never good at those).

I have "theme words" for both of the X clues for that though! The 3 letter one (which isn't a word otherwise) is a trendy name apparently? So that goes against the instructions? (Not read yesterday's thread yet, don't want to until I make a proper start and at least fit a few in the grids).

sorry for the delay. I think the first word in the answer is French for high, then two odd letters from quail. The sauce I can't figure out. Hope someone cleverer comes along.

I can't parse 1D either (last 2 words).
