Finally got there! Absolutely brilliant.

For those still looking for the NW image, the reason it’s so hard to find is it’s far more involved than the other three…

My penny drop came after reading through the entire forum, looking at a relevant image on Google, then suddenly realising how the lengths of the two words could correspond to the two parts of the image.

Took a lot of grid staring to get there though!

Thanks Shark

With the help of many of the contributions on the forum I think I know the shape of the NW image but I still can't find it. Assuming I have the correct thematic word, I can see its 2 final letters in 4 contiguous cells.
Do any of these pairs form part of one of the lines?
I hope this makes sense.

Hi numbskull,
As I think others have said, the thematic item is more than four letters and they are all non-contiguous. If you need any more shout. I actually found the longer-lettered item first and that made the thematic word much more obvious.

Think I see the 4 contiguois letters, only one of those features.

I'm puzzled by piffleworthy's comment at #70: "There are four 'qualifying' columns. It's the next to last."
I assume he means it's the next to last of the four, not next to last in the grid (ie. col. 11).

I can see only three qualifying columns, i.e. columns which have a repeated letter in unchecked cells, AND where changes would result in real words.
So far none of the combinations of changed words has yielded anything in Google, nor has what I have found in the SW quadrant.

Thanks muraria, that’s very helpful. Can I assume that the thematic word and associated item occupy cells, none of which are contiguous?

Hi ns,
Letters in the thematic word and associated item themselves are not contiguous but, some of the letters from each are contiguous. This is because one of the lines/words iwholly contains the other... Hope that makes sense.

Hmm, not sure how to help without giving the game away.

All I can say is, when I spotted it, Google immediately confirmed it, so if Google is seeming unhelpful, you don’t have it…
