Great stuff, Quisling. That gives me a lot of hope!

Bathmatters, I have had a quick look at this, and the Inquisitor seems to be nowhere to be found in the Digital edition. The only hope would seem to be the PDF version of the Print edition. This week it was at the top of page 52, the last page of the six-page Games & Puzzles pull-out. That is its usual location. Can you access the PDF version?

Quisling, thank you so much! Now I know what question to ask the paper- is there a pdf version of the paper that subscribers can access.

SO GRATEFUL.

Bathmatters, there certainly is. In my experience of other papers, the PDF version is identical to the print one. So it should just be a question of getting the appropriate subscription. I would have taken one out myself to check, but the minimum term is three months and I get the print copy anyway

Before I move on to the endgame, can I get some help with a few clue ...

24 - River meadows up north - titular pirates, yeomen and gondoliers here (4)

My answer is a popular word in barred puzzles and is a dialect/up north word for "river meadows" but I cannot make any sense of the "pirates, yeomen ...." part?

25 - The Halifax Arms and the St. Lawrence's Head here? (4) I?N?

There are only about 4 words with this letter pattern which makes me think it might be a location? (On the plus side, I do know know that the reliquary containing St Lawrence's actual head is displayed once a year in the Basilica in Rome!)_

11 - Where Italians may worship Lord - refined, I think, looking up (5)

My answer is the plural of an Italian cathedral - I did think "Lord" and "I" might be the first and last letters respectively but that leaves me with problems making the middle 3 letters equate to the rest.

25 Halifax and St Lawrence are in Nova Scotia, and with the addition of Arms and Head they could be pubs (I think)

11 You're right about D/Lord, but refined is out old friend U + reverse of abbreviation for in my opinion

That's brilliant, thanks Loge, thanks Krauton, much appreciated.

I've had a look at the grid I can see a word at each side, one meaning 'going up' the other 'going down' but I've read the comments here which imply they're part of a set but can't see any others. I think all the irregular "etre" verbs in French are to do with motion, including both of these - am I warm?
