ChrisRemo, as it's been a week, I'll give a little more direct hint. I hope that's in the spirit of the thread. Presumably you have a long unclued entry. You need to change that in the grid as instructed by the first part of the corrected letters. I don't know where you are from, but it took me quite awhile. Being American, I was unfamiliar with the replacement term.

Ah, perhaps that’s my issue… I live in the UK but I’m American as well. I’ve had the proper answer identified for quite a while now, I’m just not sure how to apply the instruction to it or what to do to the grid as a result. It must be lack of familiarity with the resultant phrase or words.

You have to change all but 2 of the cells in the final entry

Because you have to retain real words throughout, you might find it helpful to list the possible letters in each cell

1st B or G
2nd L or R
3rd ??
4th E or T

etc etc

.. and then see if you can make an associated two-word phrase from the list of possibles

Thank you, Jordan. This turns out to be a ridiculous blast of irony: the resultant phrase was… exactly my very first thought as to what it might be, upon filling the grid earlier in the week. I feel extremely foolish.
