26A, the French language is a group of languages that are called that (also Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian), all derived from Latin.
So it's a double definition.

If it's a double def I think it's weak since romances are not necessarily fabricated. If as Brendan suggests it's intended as a triple I don't see how the plural "fabricated accounts" equates to ROMANCE. So not a very satisfying clue para mi.
