I find it hard not to answer any post that suggests we're all of the same mind, norah - so when I read this, from jack aubrey -

''The Telegraph (an organ I would not want to touch, much less read) still has a crossword only digital subscription of less than £40 per annum. That makes the EV (I don’t do the others) about 75p a pop which I think is well worth it.
As to papers one does want to read, if you are a member of a local library...''

I'd happily see an end to all politicking in crossword threads, norah - we've got more than enough puerile commentary in Guardian crossword puzzles as it is - and even the hearts of the advanced cryptics can bleed copiously for a 'good cause' (so I hope you manage to stamp it out here).

Help with some parsing, please:
6d (Muss Jim's cloth).
12d (Constrain feeding bird etc).
35a (Child reverting...).

I have a full grid, think/hope I have the correct 10 Thematic clues, all the 'explanation' except for the 6th&/or 7th word(s) ( clues 6d-12d).

I feel like the White Rabbit..."I'm late"....with this crossword.
Thank you.

12 D The first two and the last two letters are the bird, the middle two are given by the first word in the clue (amended).

35 - a child (3 letters) reversed on the outside of a single letter abbrev from the treated 'chiselling' + 'to'.
The other clue is thematic.

Thanks Malone. I had taken the 2nd, 3rd and 4th for the bird.
I had started this crossword on Saturday, filled in about half of it, then had to leave off until today.

Drxx @ 103. Sincere apologies for inadvertently stepping on what are obviously extremely sensitive toes.

I never quite figured out the parsing for 36 wordplay though I have the answer, see the definition, and know the extra letter. A hint would be most welcome to put me out of my misery :-)

A very enjoyable one this, I thought, with an interesting twist on the extra-letter thing. Many thanks Stick Insect.
