Well, if you are right SimpleSimon I’m in big trouble. I think now that I may have been looking in the wrong section of BRB and that my unchecked letter is a simple one-letter abbreviation. This gives me a word which I assume translates to the relevant title.

Moffat. Yes, a single letter surrounded by an abbreviation of Gaelic ( we even tried a letter R for garlic at an early stage).
