I have managed to find a snapshot of the list of characters (from the source) and, annoyingly, it only gives the bottom character's first name! But given overwhelming number of references to the six-letter spelling, many of them from reliable sources, I would say with confidence that this is what's intended.

Could this be why the puzzle's theme is date specific?

I’m probably like many others in that I have fully read the plot, have all the names, correct bottom line, new top line etc but I am having a blank about the delimiting. Can someone please steer me in the right direction. Many thanks.

Unclued, if you have the correct bottom and top lines, you have presumably answered the questions in the title. The answers are terse, with only a couple of alternatives.

Unclued. Not wishing to incur the wrath of others, I would suggest looking to see where you could add the extra bars whilst answering the questions and still forming proper words as per the preamble.

Hi. Really struggling to decide the location. Can anyone tell me if the final letter is S, E or D? I had settled on S but I'm far from convinced.

Sorry, jordan - if you read the first post on this thread by norah (admin) you'll see that we're being discouraged from giving the kind of answer you're asking for.

I hope this helps you arrive at the correct choice -

The preamble states that if we ''fill the bottom row'' with a surname we'll be revealing ''answers to the title's questions'', so the answers only appear when the name is inserted (and there has already been a mention of them being 'terse' answers). Then it's just a matter of reading the wiki synopsis to see what conditions prevail for each of the choices (what if this happens? What if that...?).
