Thanks for the heads up on 17. I completed this week's crossword quite quickly but this was one of the clues I couldn't parse. The other one is one of your CODs - 24 - I expect it's really obvious but I can't see it.

24a - 9 letter "spite" around single letter "right" - definition is "appeal".

Well that would have been a lot quicker if I hadn't have put the answer to 6a the wrong way round. That'll teach me to read the clue more carefully. Unless it's another one Everyman changed midway 🤣

Thanks Everyman for an enjoyable weekly challenge since #3523 and to early posters who do much work while I am asleep. I try to complete with Chamber's and Roget's only and find the hints here useful when I get stuck. However, the human brain being what it is, what I get stuck on others seem to have no problem with! LOIs 7d, 12d; COD 15a.

Can’t get the singer in 12d. Thought I had it but the crosser at 16 destroyed it. Help please?

Not much of a "singer"! Look up who were in the Rat Pack.

Then I must have the rest wrong. Back to the drawing board!
