I quite agree with David W, canoes are paddled, or perhaps poled or even, sailed not rowed as suggested in 12,

Definition is Rev.
Spoonerisms are hard to explain!

Hi Peter,

8d - The definition is a common term for a " perhaps Rev(erend)" and will give a Spoonerism meaning "butterflies, skippers etc" when the usual letters are swapped (See Phil's @20)

Got them all finally, thanks to the forum. I don’t understand the spoonerism, though. I see that it’s a phrase for Rev. but don’t see the letter switches. Butterflies? Skippers?
Thanks

Bit spoilerific but the first word of the spoonerism is another word for a Scottish tribe/family, if that helps understand it.
