No one else seems to be having any problems with 12A, so what am I missing? Got the answer early on (as 'Midsummer' didn't fit!) but can't parse it for love nor money. Can anyone help?

Scratch the last post. I see it now. Not a great clue, though - 'talking' doesn't seem to have any relevance at all.

Good morning all. I've managed to finish but stuck on a couple of parsings
9A does 'west' add anything, my parsing works without it
4D other than the last 2 letters of the last word in the clue, when spelled out, gives the 2nd word in the answer, I have nothing (and may be barking up the wrong tree)

Thanks

Minty, I have the same problem with West.
Phil, in the phrase you are talking to the techie.

Clues like 6a irritate me. FOI, but the wrong way round, of course!
I think the "west" in 9a instructs you which order to put the parts in, but I agree that it isn't essential.

Same here Chrise!

And there something up with 20A. Should be 'setter removed' or so.

Concealed as in hidden I thaink that's ok. Thanks Chrise I see the west of make the surface work & is correct in the solution structure - I guess we've just been conditioned to a reversal.

Unlike Alzy 1a is my LOi. My Chambers App and Google suggest an alternative enumeration for the second word in the solution. I am missing something in the clue that implies (6,4) rather than the correct spelling.
I nominate myself as the pedant of the week.
