Belated thanks, Quisling. I'd noted the misspelling in the illustration but not the mis-lettering.

I really enjoyed this one. Hard work but not a slog like the Spice monster.

Thanks to drxx and quisling, I now agree that the reflective letter is not ambiguous but it is pretty obscure! I have read and listened to the source material many times but would never have identified it from memory. Hats off to anyone who got it without referring to the illustration. It could have been the 11th letter or the 10th, as some have suggested. Anyway, I am no longer stuck and in need of help,so many thanks.

To recap, the wording 'in other spaces left vacant' confused me, as it seemed to imply that the across and down answers don't intersect. But they do!

I've got the reflected letter, but am not sure about how to change the barred off letter homophonically and what it symbolises?

Isn’t it just the second letter of your answer to 6a, representing a facial feature in the picture?

Yes, I have that letter there, but I'm not sure about how to change it.
