Crikey! It's a real head-scratcher. Anyone making progress?

Yes, apart from the letter to be entered reflectively. It may help to know that clue answers may contain up to three letters, not necessarily contiguous, unclued by wordplay.

I have found several of the not-included letters but have ground to a halt. Hints on the second halves of 1a and 1d welcome! I've given Chambers a work-out to no avail.

The definition of the second clue in 1a is 'waves' - big ones. The wordplay should click once you've got the solution.
In 1d, as in 10d, 'filler' refers to the entity filling the hole, so you're looking for an adjective that describes the 'filler'.
I've been doing this pretty much in spite of the instructions, rather than with them: "entered left to right in other spaces left vacant" seems gibberish to me. Perhaps "in" is meant to be "and"? Anyhow, I plough on.

Thanks Biggus, the penny just dropped as to 'team members' so I can probably progress a little and the 2nd half of 1d should make more sense too!

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT
The second parts of 1d and 10d are synonyms. They should both be within your compass, and I don't want to needle you - I couldn't bear that.

ozzy - I've got a string of five omitted letters in one word. I'd prefer it to be 4, but that'll require some fiddling.

I have a clash where 8a and 11d intersect. Can anyone help? I've got 'E' going across, and 'A' down.

I think that’s the trickiest part of the puzzle, Biggus56. How to enter 8a. I finished it in the 10th column, and had the fourth letter in the 9th column as part of the edge of the hole. That way the wordplay for 10d part 2 becomes “ESH”, hidden in the first two words. I may be wrong

Sorry Biggus56, you are right that a couple of answers have more than three letters unclued, but I hope the hint was helpful anyway. And I still haven't identified the reflective letter.
