Yes, I missed the apostrophe, but it still doesn't work for me - are they supposed to be verbs? The entry is weird verb!

I found this one mostly easy as well, with the exceptions being the ones that Brendan predicted might be difficult for us Americans, i.e., 21d (anything with snooker makes me nervous) and the much-discussed writer, whom I have heard of.

Ok I think I had 20A wrong then, I have E as 4th letter so it should be a D? I have a word for pans (plural) e.g. earthen 20A or stone 20A

And 21A I think I have wrong as well, I can see the "change" part maybe with an F for following before that, and my answer starts with SC but it could be ST instead? I can't work out what the definition is. Unless I have some crossers wrong.

PS, the first four letters of 21 are are "sport's" reversed and as I mentioned in a previous post, the apostrophe matters. Fro 20a, think of a very specialized kind of "pan" used in a particular ethnic group's cooking.

Ok I have 21A correct now and I see the definition. I don't like the sports part of the clue either.

Hi everyone

Well, I'm not finding it so easy. I only got one answer on my first read through of the across clues and then I wasn't sure it was right - no homophone indictor. I must start on the downs next time. I have most of the right hand side done with some notable gaps. Even taking the "for" out of 20ac hasn't helped. 8ac and 5d are also missing. I don't know the computer or the writer in 12ac. And I've no idea who Jodie is.

I'm completely bemused with the idea that there are lots of words starting with the same 4 letter word. None of the answers I've got are repeated are the first four letters repeated anywhere and I find it hard to imagine that they are all in the remaining ones I haven't got. I have four possible answers to 18ac that fit my crossers and loosely mean the definition.

I agree with Chrise that where I have got an answer the clueing is very loose. Is 12d a battle? Is 24ac a hidden?

Can I have a hint for 1d and 21ac. It may help me make better progress. Off to look up Will writers now.
