But I knew that Qaos usually has a hidden theme, and it popped out when I was staring at the completed grid

I think you're right Jono, it seems 7a can be included, although I can't say I've heard it before.

All done , too many write ins for a prize IMO .CoD 19d .It took me ages to parse ( other Presidents are available lol ) I completly missed the theme . Thanks for pointing it out .

Surely the definition is "bowl" rather than "bowls". At least it is in the paper.

You're right Quocunque, my mistake.

Think I'm with Chrise on this one. Too many very loose definitions, words with letters left out of them and not many great clues. Also felt more like an Everyman to me which could mean tomorrow may be quite tough.

Think I have finished, can't parse 20A, 21A and I have a homophone for 16A but can't see any indicator (apart from to catch as in to hear I guess)... and it seems a loose definition anyway.

yes, catch is the homophone indicator
20 and 21 were 2 of my dislikes that i mentioned earlier
20 delete the "for". it ...., it .....
21 the first 4 letters are supposed to be a synonym for "sports" backwards - dreadful!
