I think we can make sense of just about anything after the fact, rad - it helps if the information we need to get there is as precise as it can be.

drxx - think you may have a different message to me as I don’t see have anything that could be described a sub-heading after the first group, I just have the three words making up the second group

Well, that could mean I've made an error with the redundant words, candledave - and if you can justify all of the words in the clue I've taken them from I'd be very grateful (I'll identify the clue on the other thread).

I'm conceding the point, rad (both of them).

Finally got there, having done exactly what I was told to do, except that I left the n shapes for the end and focused on the thematic names, two of which I recognised. It is very clever.

I did the same, Foinaven. Without the names (and the Internet!) I'm not sure I'd have twigged what was going on at all.

Just finished the initial grid fill. Also now struggling with the end-game a little, but enjoying it all so far! Also found 23 a struggle. Really enjoyed some of the clues here, 16(ii) was especially cheeky!

I was referring to the message from the extra words in the clues. It tells us what to erase from the entries in the grid. It lists three things to eliminate, such a shame after all the trouble we went to to fill the grid!
