Warden, re 26A, species of animal that ovine describes with its 'tail' (final letter) lopped off, followed by the poet's initials.

I can't parse 17A either.

I'm also missing 19D and 26A, for 19D I have ?M?A?? and for 26A I have ??E?T? I'm thinking ovine animal without the P, replacing it with Eliot's initials, but don't see why that would be the case.

17a: split the answer as 1+7 letters. It will make sense then.

Although I don't know why I didn't see the post 2 below mine :) So that is correct for 26A, still no idea on 19D

Using a solver for 19D gives only one word and I'm pretty sure it's not the answer though :/ I'd have thought it starts with EM or IM

EM is correct, meaning Everyman going north. Next four letters are for hostelries.

Ok, got it now. Quick solve on this site does not know about that word, it only had SMEARS fitting :p

All finished except the parsing of 14a. Any hints please?

I agree with previous posters that single letter abbreviations as in 8d do make for pretty poor clues
