I find these prepositions a pain in the neck and provided the answer is clearly correct, I'm not gonna argue the toss with the compiler. I think you can get re=of if you need to.

Thanks, Loge. I couldn't think of any examples myself, but seeing it in Bradford's reassured me a little!

So I have all the answers except 1d where I have SLA?H but cannot make any sense of possible parsing. I'm guessing "slash" for clear trees, with "opt" extra. But why? Or what else

And 4 down where I have ?oi?er.

Would appreciate help thanks.

As for the theme etc, that's another mystery. lol

Laertes, look up SLASH under the second heading in Chambers.

... and a person who 'says' (speaks) derived from the initials of a 19th century monarch around a 'ring' and a short informal word for diamonds.

I figured the answer to 26d relatively early, but can’t see the parsing. I have a Scottish word for something that can cover a roof, but how?

Best I can come up with is a reverse homophone for Keith, syllabically

That’s the only thing I could think as well, but it’s very unsatisfying.

On the subject of homophones, are the first two letters of 31 meant to be?
