Can anyone help with the fish and temporary homes in 8d please? Hopefully then I will be able to push on.

The second word means building units. The first indicates that there aren't very many of them ("lesser"). Unlikely to be parsed except retrospectivley!

having fully parsed 13a, i was lucky.

Speaking as a massive fan of Paul, I must say that was one of his hardest Prize CWs I've ever done. I didn't expect to finish & it was only when the penny dropped & I worked out what the theme was that I was able to. All parsed except 25a, which, despite the hints in the thread, remains a complete mystery - although the answer is obvious enough. I guess I'll never know! Just glad to get across the line in the end. Thanks for all the helpful posts.

justsolve, 25a + another letter gives an anagram of another A.

reading through the comments i can't find anyone remarking on the relevance of the theme beginning with Capital A's and I's.

ChrisE, I'm not sure I understood what you meant in @50. The impression I got was that the first letter was either I or A to produce the right surface for the rest of the clue. Is it more than that?
