Thanks malone, I didn’t think of non-human fungal problem.
Now I have two letters the same at the end of the entry, one is extra…hmm…maybe it doesn’t really matter which is highlighted one…
Like others I staggered over the line with this one but a great challenge, with Google actually being a hindrance rather than a help. A wonderful tribute.
I guess the thematic connection is around a certain classical Greek play?
The Greek play is the conclusion a few of us have come to, Muraria, but there doesn't seem to be any confirmation of the exact connection in the public domain.
Like you loge, I wasted a lot of time trying to make words starting with L and ending with R fit 1d, I had never come across that abbreviation for hands either. We'll know next time.
Thanks Loge, yes, there seems to be no more direct connection unless he had an interest in the thematic subject or was associated with a certain rugby team?
Thanks planks at #113. Sorry I’ve moved on to some DIY.
I have 18 now but only by definition, I see a ‘record’ too but can’t see letter added.
I think I have 14, it’s a five letter word? But guess it needs an F added.
18 the extra letter is in the last word of the clue. The new word means "start" and your record goes in a word for job (in the sense of bank job) starting later i.e. without its initial letter. The extra letter has to be included in the entry.
