I didn't notice that Jif - it seemed like an obvious abbreviation so I didn't check. I suppose it could be an indirect allusion like "conservationists" for NT?

I have a full grid and think I have worked out the messages but I don't understand a couple of clues.
In 18a I assume the extra letter is "c" but I don't understand the Drambuie reference.
Also, in 19a I have the extra letter as "o" but can't see the "banker".
Hints for these would be much appreciated.

Think banker was a "cert". I had no joy with Drambuie either

unloaded (empty) Drambuie = DE, which leaves a word meaning "rate"

I considered that, loge. but then it should have been "enviromental agency" (no capitals). Perhaps it's just an editorial oversight.

I’ve identified the the first thematic item thanks to many of the helpful hints through the forum. I think I’ve also hit on how the second item is configured across each of the columns. However, with my very limited knowledge of music, I can’t work out what the preamble means by “make some additions in accordance with the thematic information”.

Hi numbskull. The thematic information tells you that some elements of one thematic element are not “natural”. The original composition is was written in E flat major. So some notes need to be accompanied by an approprite symbol to show the modulation. One of the modulations (a D) is not a usual part of E flat major.

I found this quite a frustrating puzzle. Easy grid fill but the extra letters did nothing to lead me to the theme except to suggest it might be musical. I even looked at the writings of Prince Philip who was born this month 1921.
Only got there by googling a possible four word phrase (after checking out The Red Sea Social and several other candidates). I had never heard of the work and was lucky to spot it.
I recently gave up submitting this crossword. When I did submit I would never consider looking in on this forum before completing the puzzle. This time I was very tempted.
