Can some kind person help me start to understand how to tackle these clues today?
I don’t get what to do.
If you could show me any one answer and how you reached it I may be able to try…
9a douce is scottish for sedate ...but how it might parse with or without letters of wordplay ignored??...... hopefully someone clever will be along soon...!
The wordplay in 9ac gives a 4 letter synonym for 'put out' (a Scots cigarette end?) minus its final 't' - remaining letters in the answer are unclued and must be highlighted.
I am struggling with 4d. Symmetry would suggest it should be entirely unclued, which cannot be right? If the given clue has a solution which occupies all four cells, is the unch an m?
