Out of interest, which word did people use to define the second part of the one syllable thematic word?

Also, I am struggling to parse the “second marriage” clue so would appreciate a nudge for completeness.

I'm guessing you've done what I initially did and tried spelling the "second marriage" with a B - wrong! Caused me no end of head scratching.

That final syllable was the very last thing I put in - I don't know if it's correct but I used the "on" in between "feeding ... buns"

Cancel that syllable - I think it's "about" from the "ice queen" clue.

Sorry CD, I'm all over the place - "ice" is the extra word in the "queen " clue so maybe I was the right the first time - but I doubt it because it's not a synonym of the last two letters of the sing syllable thematic.

Interesting point, CD. I used "performing" from the US musician clue. The "at" alone is enough to give the middle two letters of the answer and therefore "performing" is extra.

I did, like Brendan, consider the "on" in the buns clue but rejected it because (a) it's given directly, rather than a synonym and (b) the five letters that sound the age in that clue form an adjective, whereas buns is a noun. I took the "on" to mean about or concerning, thus justifying the adjectival form.

...surround the age in that clue...

Thanks Loge, that makes much more sense - like you say, "on" isn't actually a synonym so can't be right.

all done, but cannot parse the 4th clue.. get the first two letters and, I think the last... putting me out of my misery would be great!

After the mess I made of the extra word for the last 2 letters of the 4 letter thematic word, I hesitate to offer a parse, but anayway ....

You've got the first 2 letters then it's a 4 letter "problematic situation" around a single letter representation of "of"
