I'm with richardk - COD on Valentines Day has to be 17d, as I like to think I am for Mrs P who helped me with LOI 23a.

As usual I'm a late starter but thanks for the clues managed to get all bar 19d.
COD has to be 6D but some other crackers. Any help on 19d would be good.

I too was stuck on 23a and 15d. Having been alerted to it here, I quite like the switcheroo wordplay in 15d but I would have strugled to spot that unaided. Similarly the candle-maker/dealer shuffle - that's a bit of a devious trick IMO.

I was also trying to see the Freudian ref/special powers in 25a but of course have now seen it just as I was typing this! :-)

jimboreid - 'Finally' indicates the first couple of letters of the solution; 'regularly missing' does its usual thing. Phrase at the end is a rather arguable def.

Thanks all for help with 15d, couldn’t see it for ages but following the rules it was perfectly straight forward - cut and dried you might say.

For the life of me I can’t see 1d. Any help please?

I do admire you guys as it takes me most of the week to finish it ! I read the forum after I have finished. I got stuck with 3d but thanks to the forum I now understand it. Did enjoy 17D. Have a good week.
