6d does not seem to have raised any problem for anyone else but I can't see how the second word of the answer ties in ? Any pointers would be appreciated.

6d: If you add b to the first part, it means malicious. Though a bit vague, the second word is generally associated with poetry, as in meter.

I can't see how 3d relates to a Chinese book, am I missing something obvious?

I was late to the party having been for a long cold walk, but the take away hot bacon sandwich I bought halfway did help with 21a :)

It's the Chinese book about using a random process for divination(?).
Often written as 2 words, the first one letter, second five.

3d: If you add the letter i first to the last five letters, it means a popular Chinese book.
