The film was made in 1994. The lead actor appeared in The Man with One Red Shoe, which is obscure enough (I think) not to be too much of a giveaway but is still verifiable on Wiki.

Please help. I have full grid and quote found. But stuck on the word that completes the set. What set? And then the random selection?

Concentrate on the first two words from the misprints in relation to the extra words, It's not obvious but you'll know when you've found it.

There are 26 in the set, 25 of them being the extra words and the last one to be got from the generated cryptic clue. Look at the part of the each extra word referred to by the first word of the message, and you should see how they fit the description given by the second word of the message. That there are 26 in all should be a clue...

This has been an arduous task. I found several of the clues extremely contrived, but the majority of the rest were excellent. Once again, spotting the misprints (and in some instances the extra words) was as difficult as the puzzle itself. At least the theme reminded me that I must buy something for "mission control" before tomorrow!! I am struggling to find the additional five letter word, but I'll return to that later once my headache has gone.

All done now - the magic of posting works yet again! The beauty of this is you know you have the right misprints AND that you have correctly identified all the missing words - which is a rare achievement for me.

Hard to explain without direct reference to the theme. The words are like the contents of the container described in the film quote, as referenced by the first part of the message. The actual meanings of the words are irrelevant. The reference to random means (I think) that any one of the words could have been chosen as the one left over.
