For me this has been the most difficult in a long time, even more than the one from two weeks ago that got all the gripes here. I still need to finish the upper right corner. Is it safe to say that 6d is a famous English cheese in plural? I figure hairy to be a misprint of dairy.

Only what I've learned from working cryptics. Even after a few decades leg/on can still trip me up. As can those damn extraneous U's.

Finally have a full grid but I can’t see where the W comes from in 43, and my parsing for the rest of it needs the removed word to be there. Omitting the following word as I did messes up the cryptic clue. It was one of my first ones in as well, luckily completely checked. Help appreciated.

W begins a 3-letter word meaning "condition" that wraps the usual abbreviation for "dead"

D’oh! I was so convinced by the ‘uncovered tail’ that I didn’t think of other spellings - and didn’t check 35 properly. Thanks.

This is yet another instance of a puzzle which I would have abandoned if I had not had help from this forum. Thanks to all concerned.

I found that when I had drawn the curve through the 29 letters I had to continue through two further cells to complete the closed curve. Admittedly these two cells had already been visited at the start, so that the total number of cells visited remains 29, but it seems a bit of a blemish to have two extra letters tacked on to the quotation.

I tend to grade Listeners by “day I finish”, and this one was a Monday finish after quite a few Saturday finishes recently, and definitely the most challenging for a while. I’m pretty sure I have it all sorted but can’t for the life of me see how 15a and 22a work (although I’m pretty sure I have the answers).

15a is a letter for electron in a party meaning an old word for plunder

22a means exclusions and is ‘A lift’ cycling around
