Just to clarify..........

"either answer may be clued first" - does this mean that in 1,48, for example, the answer that appears first in the clue could be for either 1 or 48?

Okay, thanks Eugene, that's what I thought. It's just that I've misread so many preambles of late I thought I should double-check.

Wow this is hard. I literally can't do any of it! Any tips with clue to try and crack first?

AbiCoop - early days and I've only solved three myself but there is a clue where you know which answer of the pair goes where in the grid. That helped me at least write something in. But, struggling now.

The only one I have solved so far is the first half of the 20,34.
First three words are the def.

Nil desperandum, Abicoop. I'd try to get the first half of 20, 34 and of 2, 37. That's what gave me an in.

I find that this way of presenting the clues makes it hard to find your way around the grid, and there are some incredibly obscure definitions. It's worth the graft, so long as you like the film!

Thanks, at least that gives me somewhere to focus on! Hopefully something will click!
