Double definition. The first isn't weather-related, and the second is a bit slangy.

Thanks Chris’s. Not as meaty as most of the other clues.

Thank you Quocunque, I finally got 8d. That’s an expression that’s not been heard since 1973!

26a I have a word for city that fits and the second half is a poem backwards, but don’t get where the first three letters come from

24/1 is a blast from the past. Being a native country-dweller, I often heard this term in the 1980s and 90s used in a derogatory way because the incomers never looked genuine - ironically trying to blend in, but looking like townies trying too hard! (they chose the type of attire that we farming folk never actually wore)

Hi femmenoire, happy you’ve got 8d, those three letters in 26a come from a word for ‘set’ (as a noun) backwards

Thanks from me as well. I now have 26ac

I'm very tired today. I only have use of my right hand today, which together with the pain killers makes me even more stupid than usual. my daughter came today to wrap Christmas presents for me. My thumb was required to hold the paper, so I didn't start until late and only got 7 and 27 on my first read through. i think i might have 8d and 1ac, but i'm not sure. A hint for the third word would be helpful. I must read through all the hints on this thread again

8d reminds me of the Carry On films, it’s the sort of thing Sid James might have said. Hope you feel better Roof!

For quite a long time CLAP FOR CARERS fitted at 8d. Not as Pauline as the actual solution, though....

Sorry no help Jono

I can't remember anything Sid James used to say. Is the sixth letter of the third word an E or an L. I'm really having trouble with this one. Time to re-read the thread.
