6d anagram limit + I + a
18 united is extra ...4 letter word for broken reversed + 2 letters for since
23 3 letter word for outlaw + 3 letter word for took in food
33 nut is extra

33 - Scott’s tip is definition and nut is surplus
6 - Territorials is def and “exercises” is anagram indicator
18 - Def is first two words and “United” is surplus
23 - military district is definition. No surplus word.

I can't parse either 3 letter solution, 14a and 34a.
My last one to solve is 36a - that's a lot of words for a five letter answer! presume hidden backwards, but what and why?

14 is double definition with two old/obsolete meanings for a grimace (twister face) and for more

34 Scottish word for certainly not and two letter abbrev for ages after one letter for nationalist

36 the def is Bible translation which is in a “hitch” and all back to front in Galatians. “Inside“ is surplus

Thanks candledave, but still struggling a bit with those.
What is this hitch? I have the solution - the translation, but I would say we need 'inside' to tell us it hidden inside? Is 'this' the extra word?
It also doesn't fit with what I had for 32d, so a steer on that would be appreciated. I thought 'red' was extra.
In 34 I don't see how AE is aged, or 'ages' as you say?
Obviously I am getting frustrated as have virtually full grid but no PDM!

Take away a 4 letter word for 'hitch' (reversed) around the outside of 'Galatians' and, yes - 'inside' is extra.
