In the 'F' word, theragman - I think we're using a pun to justify an abbreviation (singular).

Sorry - I was being very dense there (it's been a long day)!

The 'F' word - is a plural to equate to the last six letters of the work surely?

I think I was trying for some kind of &lit but the final word must be pluralised for that to work (sorry again!).

...just to be clear - I was putting abbrev R inside the last word of the clue (its definition) but forgetting the 's' on the end of the answer.

Done and dusted! This is a first for me — completing a Listener crossword BEFORE the Saturday on which it appears!
Way too easy this week: I spotted the start of the associated name with the grid far from being filled, took an educated guess at the end , then Wikipedia gave me the answer to the extra clue well before I had got all the letters in the clue...

Brilliant! Finally got there (although not before spending a good hour looking for paintings by Titian!!)

After giving up after my last post i had a fresh look this morning and got there in about ten minutes - moral is don't try to do the Listener whilst watching football. Certainly on the easier scale for a listener, and I didn't find it as captivating as many of the others this year. Still, it is a lot cleverer than anything that I could try to create, so I shouldn't complain.

All finished, even without being able to make sense of the second word in the new clue eg what is extra letter in 20ac
