Imagine the timetable!!

OMG!! What an absolutely fantastic puzzle and a masterpiece of an endgame. I initially put coloured dots in all the stops and, when I'd finished, it looked like they were forming letters. But it wasn't until I joined each group of dots up that I saw the destination written. I'm also glad it was an Essex town and one I was born quite near - brilliant:-)

I am still completely lost. No stop is repeated but I keep coming to the same stop on the third circuit. Could somebody please confirm that the first five stops from the terminal on the first circuit are S, D, E, U, T.

Hi alwayspuzzled, the sequence you list is the start of the 5th circuit so I imagine you have a "wrong" letter somewhere. If you'd like to send me an image of your completed grid I can then advise.

I think you have miscounted at the first hurdle, Always. You’ve obviously got the right method.

Hi rad, I think it's more than that as he would end up at the depot at the end of the first circuit given the sequence shown.

Agreed, Ginge, assuming that he made no further errors. I initially made a slip somewhere which led me to the depot after only two circuits. In a puzzle like this one wrong letter or one miscounting error will ruin the whole enterprise, and also make a mess of your grid!

I agree with those who have admired the brilliance of this puzzle, despite the ludicrous theme.

Oh dear - I am still struggling despite many helpful posts.

Let me test my understanding. You start with J ( or do you start with one of the letters surrounding it?). You then move 10 places (if it is J) to another letter and so on?

If someone could give me the first three letters of the first circuit I'll battle on. If not, I'll go and have a cry at the other end of the pond and await next week's puzzles.

Bear with me first division players. It keeps me out of mischief and Mrs Seal is pleased.

Hi again williamseal, your understanding is spot-on - the first 3 "stops" are D,O & R.
You should end up back "in" the depot after 5 circuits, which I'd recommend checking before you begin highlighting.

How do you get R after the O? ...going forward 15 i have ORVPATEARDDYSA L the L being at the top of 32d???
