Now I've done a neat copy of the filled grid I have one question before proceeding/highlighting. Does the counting start at the depot itself or at the square next to it?

Could anyone help with 40 across please?

Then of course, Drxx, there are the people whose job it is to keep moving the bus-stop signs, and the shelters perhaps, all day long! As for the would-be passengers, well, I suppose the bus company doesn’t care about them very much. Let’s hope they are good sprinters. Lewis Carroll would be hard pressed to match this level of fantasy.

I wonder if Harribobs has ever ridden on a bus, rad (he'd certainly struggle getting on this one)?

I'm still struggling with the last letters of the message before I try to work out the route.

I have "to next a one b two etc"

Where am I going wrong. Hope this is not giving anything away.

Williamseal, just punctuate that - a comma after 'next', then an equals sign after 'a'... and 'b'.

As seems to be the pattern, I understood it about an hour after posting - while enjoying my supper in the garden. It'll be a challenging time tomorrow working out the routes.

It seems to be a reliable though erratic service, running every day. Here we get routes that only have buses on 2 days a week, others one day a week.

Rad's comment that the company doesn't care about passengers applies everywhere in my experience.
