i got some of those from Morrisons nelson!

nelson, I have 10 words and a single letter in the instruction

Muraria, phew - that's a relief, that's what I have! I've led people astray before so hesitated to give my version.

...don't quite follow the preamble....does it mean choose both letters from the clues or just one ...e.g. from 20a K or T or both?

Xwordfan, it says 'we've to select a letter', so I took that to mean only one.

PS I don't have those letters from 20 A - you'll need to check (and remember the bit about the 'separated by one other' too!).

Sorry! Earlier I should have said 'before tenth word'.

I also have ten words and a letter.

(xwordfan - I daren't go as far as Morrisons in case I'm stopped by a roadblock. But they are usually very good for plug plants at this tme of year.)

44 is NOW ('as things are') [with] S ('beginning to settle') before ('earlier')

Re 25, you'll be 'the' better for checking 'the [2]' in Chambers...

some of the plants are all clumped together in a tray - but they are isolable.
