What a great puzzle!

However, 18-26 is eluding me completely. Can anyone offer a hint please?

Thank you HW7 and crates with help on 52-39. (I did thank you much earlier but for some reason my post has vanished!)

This feeble brain still struggling with my last clue, namely 58-47. I know the def is the last 2 words but still stuck. Any hints gratefully received. Thanks.

Think scrambled initials of the first words surrounding “it”

Thanks to everyone posting on here who helped me with some of the clues. This is my first Listener and took me until the Thursday to do, but it was definitely worth it.

Can anyone please help me parse 43-30? Definition is ‘old bag’, but where does ‘rag’ come into it? Seems to be the first letters of d.. o... c... ‘about’ i.e. reversed. Can’t quite make sense of it.

Hi, quiz,

The answer has several meanings given in Chambers. The second definition is “bag”, stated to be obsolete. The fourth definition is “to poke fun at”, and this is also a meaning of “to rag”. The wordplay is D (abbreviation of “director”) O (contraction of “of”) C (abbreviation of “college”), reversed.
