I might as well start this, but with little to offer, as I've only done 6 clues. I think I can see how to enter 25d, 28d, but otherwise stuck. I have answers for 34ac and 18d which I can't parse.

Help required, please!

I think there are only two ways a square can be divided into three regions of equal size and shape.

I've just had a minor lightbulb moment. I had misinterpreted the preamble to read that altering a word in the clue was one of the three types of alteration. I now realise that the three types of alteration apply either to the answer OR to a word in the clue. Now I feel I am getting somewhere.

Hi dylan, I think I can help with 18d if chum has a letter missing at the end. I'm struggling elsewhere though. Have 1a, 35a and a few others that need some idea of how they're entered eg 10d, 19a, 11d, 29a and 36a. A hint for 25d would help me with the entering of 36a.

Thanks Granama1 for the tip for 18d - I forgot to look at the clue being altered.

25d fits perfectly with 36ac; def is "overweight" - in a visual sense. Slightly unusual word for "suffer" outside a standard meal, missing first letter.

granama1, 25d is a 5 letter word for a meal, minus first letter, inside a three letter word for suffer. The resulting word means overweight but the word entered means vigorous. Sorry a bit garbled!

Hi, gitto,

Just finished myself.

In 24dn, the definition is “trial” - Chambers gives this meaning as archaic. The fourth word must be altered to give a synonym for the last three letters. The first two letters are the French for “are” as in “you (singular) are”. In crosswords, this is usually clued as “art” as in “thou art”.

Thanks all. Had a burst of inspiration and the SW corner filled up apart from 22a. I think I know what it must be but not sure why yet. Sadly the lower half doesn't help a lot with the upper half. 30d has me baffled though...even though I think I have 3 of the 4 letters!

Hi, granama1,

The answer to 22ac is something I associate with Edinburgh rather than Glasgow. The second word of the clue needs to be altered.

For 30dn, you are, I’m sure, correct with the three letters you have. The fourth letter comes from 32ac.
