Has anyone got to grips with this today? As I’ve failed dismally for the last two weeks, I am again disappointed at my lack of progress on the down clues (where I have hopes) I need encouragement please if possible.

Okay sword fan here goes. There MAY be a redundant word in the clue ( 4 or more letters long)
29d: reported opportunities to assess money (3)
22d: excuses money, banking on redundancy (8)

3d is an anagram ...there's an extra word in this clue...

7d also an anagram (after removing m e) , also an extra in here...

29d the word you need sounds like "picks"
22d 5 letter synonym for excuses + M(money) with on inside .....defn is redundancy

Hi jogamel, for 2d heart of that is "ha". The answer is also a boy's name.

4d the nuclear site is in cumbria ... lose half of it to get a skeletal hollow

Took a group of students there once in Cumbria! didn’t know the meaning of the hollow though. Or the Scottish mountain so thanks everyone. I’m still persevering....
