Must be my turn to start this!

2/3 done, quite early days, but I don't get the parsing of 18dn.

Hi dylan, 1st letter omitted by wordplay; [bit-rat(e)] in (r + o' + r)

Pretty tricky puzzle for this solver, but I shan't be bothering with the origami. I know the required shape, but cutting up puzzles isn't my forte. To be honest, I'm rubbish at it!!

Hi woodlouse, monitor as in lizard; 4th letter omitted in wordplay with var (variable) + n (number).

SW corner was tricky for me. 32d is an animal and one of the two letters to a cell clues.

Nearly have the grid filled and will review to check for split cells etc but have a few head-scratchers. eg 8 down looks like a word that doesn't quite mean rely (more like 'make reliable' but can't parse it. 27a have all the crossing letters but looks like one or two may be split cells? I wondered if the last word in the clue was a misspell (sedate) but don't think I need the letter for the hint. Finally, parsing 41a DI and NG seem favourite and the usual abbr for bishop but that leaves two spare letters (unless the French for 'with' is allowed!

8d rely is part of the wordplay
27a look in Chambers for an alternative ending given under what I imagine you have as the answer. Only 1 "missing" letter, senate think America.
