dylan - 24 start with the usual 2x 2 letters for 'fashionable' + 'gold'
28 starts BO + 'control' something with 4 legs.

Dylan, 24ais the usual 2 letters for fashionable, 2 of the usual letters for gold (not the periodic ones) + lay (possibly in the rumpy pumpy sense!)

Oops 'inlay' as in the paving sense (I was responding from memory and just looked at the clue again).
Well, this is embarrassing, half the clues solved, got the main theme inc. the other title but struggling with filling the rest of the grid. A gentle hint for 1d might help.
