Thanks granama and drxx. All finished now. Some really weird clues, some of which I still don’t understand. Could someone explain 31d please.

'supplies' = KIT + last letter of 'oversize' = old RAF slang for an aircraft.

So simple when explained. How would some of us do without Google. Thanks drxx.

Got a completed grid now. However, I cannot parse 15a:-

Against banning new “adults only” book that hasn’t been printed

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi casanova, remember the preamble refers to 1 clue where wordplay omits a consecutive pair of letters.

Thought this was very good. Agree with others that it all fell out quite quickly but left with a few I can't parse.

27 - does 'bodies' mean 'surrounding' - is that a regular use, can't find any justification for it?

23 - can't see how you get the last 4 letters from jams scrubbing round?

28 - presume the unch is A to get a word meaning relishes, but can't make anything of the wordplay.

Thanks

I agree xij, some of the clues felt a little, umm, 'mechanical'. I did complete it with all the add-ons but it felt a bit of a slog and I wasn't totally convinced by some of the definitions. I'm sure they stand up to close scrutiny but eg I don't think Chambers mentions unprinted relating to 15a. 18d doesn't feel very satisfactory either. Oh well, it must be about time for a numbers puzzle which means a week off (just reading the instructions for those results in a sudden loss of the will to live!!)

Smellyharry, jams as in what happens when you get a fishing net in a propeller minus 'o'

I wonder whether the setter hoped to get 13a to be the thematic location but couldn't get the fourth letter to work?
