Hi sunray,

In the first clue, you need a 10-letter word (plural) that identifies a group of tradespeople that include wallpaper hangers. Change one of the Rs to an L and add a missing letter.

In the second clue, you are looking for a long form of a four-letter word that refers to something that guitarists use to change the pitch of the strings. This four-letter word can also be the leader of a band of brigands.

Yes, the first down clue is the one beginning “Remain over”.

Hate maths crosswords with a vengeance (this ought to count as one). How many sides does the other shape have? Not the triangle? If google images can’t produce a reasonable approximation within the first dozen or so hits then I’d say it’s unfair.

Thanks. If I follow the rubric and use the exact centres of the cells won’t my internal shape actually cut, rather than be tangential, to the other one. And I’ve still no idea which letter to place at the centre of which shape, although I’ve no idea how to determine the exact centre of one of the shapes, I guess I ought to put the other at the centre of the other shape and hope for the best. Not sure I can see any unambiguous justification for one or the other in the link. Highly unsatisfactory in my opinion.

There was mention of the relevance of the title earler in this thread. I think the well in question is an OILER. Is that how you pronounce it?

Candlestick, I have the circle going outside the triangle on the left and right sides, just tangential at the bottom. Your cross at the centre of the circle should have the final line going through it. That line starts on the top row.

Thanks for help so far everyone. Still limping painfully to the finishing line. Got both shapes now. Please help me find the five cells that make a name.
