Yes Tony, but I think it is a bit ambiguous as the clue works as well without the alteration. Completed this well before parsing all the clues. I always think it is a bit disappointing when it is possible to finish a puzzle, do the highlighting or whatever, without understanding all the clues. Not my favourite Listener of the year.

14 ac is a hidden word and should help with two of the down clues. 19 ac has ore missing at the end. It wasn't a word that I knew , but is in Chambers.

Thanks TonyNannini,
That leaves 10a, 16 a and 34 a. Then of course the choices to make and grid search. Any hints gratefully received.

10d could be rifleman. Reporter = Rep?

I do not have many.

Hi sunray, I wish I knew! I’m thinking ship as in craft on 16. And something like assessor on 34. But I need help too!

16a is the office of a clergyman with EC in it, which is replaced by O. Ends in 'ship'

34a is someone who arranges things in order. For most of the wordplay think of a word for nostalgic design/fashion and reverse it.

Like crucifer I think17d is a poor clue as it doesn't need the adjustment to work.

Thanks murky.
I have 16 as 5,4.
34a is (8).

I have not figured out 17d yet.
Does 9d have extra letters to be dropped?
