I can see Ascot but as you say no other.

Can’t see what that has to do with all those lower case ms?

Thought that they might represent the shape of part of the castle, but I think I'm on the wrong track.

Not Royal and not a castle.I tried to match two of the answers together and then googled the result.Viola! The R is a cryptic clue for an alternate name for the location.

Don't want to give too much away but the first word has 5 letters ( not Ascot ) and the second has 4 letters!

Thank you for that. I'd already spent 3 times as long on the endgame as I had on the solving. Doubt that I'd have got there without your help. Not a part of the country that I know.
